Meet the Artist
Bio:
For over 30 years, Matt worked in a corporate environment while cultivating his passion for art, creating intricate drawings of abstract, geometric, organic, and botanical forms using pen, pencil, and ink. His work features detailed, Zentangle-inspired patterns, rich textures, and vibrant colors.
Since retiring three years ago, Matt has embraced his role as a full-time artist in Asbury Park. His practice has evolved to incorporate mixed media, resin, and metal, reflecting his commitment to pushing creative boundaries. His current portfolio is a dynamic exploration of unexpected combinations, showcasing bold textures, vivid colors, and striking juxtapositions.
As an active member of the Monmouth County Arts Community, Matt has received awards from Monmouth Arts, Monmouth Museum, Belmar Arts, and the State of New Jersey. His work is available for purchase at Galerie Lucida (Red Bank), TH Art (Ocean Grove), The Guild of Creative Art (Shrewsbury), and the Asbury Park Art Club.
Matt operates out of his expansive studio at 1100 Ocean Avenue in Asbury Park. Inquiries for studio visits or commissions are always welcome.
Beyond his own creative practice, Matt hosts private one-on-one sessions and small group workshops at his studio and at select other venues. These classes offer a hands-on look at his techniques, tailored to all skill levels. All professional-grade materials are provided.
